ONE WEEK AT HOME

 ONE WEEK AT HOME

A post by local/not so local adventurer, Digby Ayton. See his previous posts here, and here.

At least once a year our our family packs up and moves to a tiny log cabin nestled beneath a medium sized hill at the far end of a long beach. This year our uncle, aunt and cousins joined the huddle around the woodfire. It was marvelous. It was a classic autumn week. Summers warmth lingered in the warm sunny days but the claws of winter had taken control of the night, leaving the mornings crisp and misty. The waves were good and I often found myself alone in the line up, a far cry from the overcrowded mush I usually surf in Sydney. I recorded this weeks happenings on my film camera, read a really good book and savored the slow happiness that spending time in Tasmania brings.
